KLIM Fabrics
Most snowmobile clothing manufacturers use good quality fabrics in the construction of their gear. The difference in KLIM’s clothing that they use specific high-tech materials to do specific jobs for specific reasons.
WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell
This technology is totally windproof, water resistant and very breathable. WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell garments combine the reliable protection of a shell with the comfort of a mid-layer. They keep you comfortable without the need for bulky, restricting layers, making them ideal for most active pursuits and weather conditions. They are also made with unique, soft, quiet, stretchy fabrics that are highly abrasion resistant and allow for wide range of motion.
Thinsulate™
Thinsulate fibers are much thinner than the polyester fibers normally used in clothing insulation, allowing them to create a dense, tangled mat that reflects radiant heat and traps air while allowing moisture to escape. For a given thickness of material, Thinsulate provides up to 1.5 times the insulation of duck down, while being much less water-absorbent and much more resistant to crushing. The fact that it is so lightweight yet will only absorb 1% of its weight in moisture make it the best insulator/moisture wicker on the market.
WINDSTOPPER® Fleece
With its unique wind-blocking ability, WINDSTOPPER® Fleece fabric is twice as warm in a 30 kph wind as traditional 200 weight fleece.
Arctic Fleece
Has dual sided finishes, a Berber finish on the inside creates a superior warmth barrier while the outside velour finish creates a clean look. Arctic Fleece offers superior warmth to weight ratio, excellent water vapor transmission and is also breathable.
Kevlar
This material is used in areas where abrasion and heat are a concern as Kevlar helps to combat these two elements.
Clarino™
Extraordinary high tech leather, Clarino™ breathes naturally, feels soft, is extremely durable and offer superior grip.
Thermal Guard
This fabric offers superior warmth to weight ratio, excellent water vapor transmission and breathability. The velour side is engineered to create thousands of air pockets that trap air, thus creating an excellent insulation zone. The polyester velour backing will keep the wearer warm and the outer nylon face provides excellent abrasion resistance.
Coolmax
The channeled fibers in this performance enhancing fabric optimize the movement of moisture produced by the body away from the skin leaving the rider dry and comfortable.
Tricot Liner
The liners of our outerwear are designed to maximize moisture transmission to keep you dry and comfortable. Our Tricot liners also serve to help with a rider’s thermal requirements, keeping the rider at the right temperature.
Taffeta
Taffeta is used in KLIM’s parkas, bibs and pants as a slick material that aids in comfort and ease of movement.
Qwik Dry
More effective at transporting moisture than traditional wicking fabrics, Qwik Dry fabric improves performance and comfort by transporting unwanted moisture away from the rider’s body.
This is a general oversight of some of the specific technological fabrics that KLIM incorporates into their garments. You should take comfort in the fact that KLIM uses more proven tech fabrics than any other snowmobile clothing manufacturer.
